Before explaining about Beauty Shinkyu, as a premise, I would like to start with an introduction of Japanese Shinkyu and to overview the history. Both acupuncture and moxibustion originate in ancient China to treat specific symptoms and diseases, also the acupuncture and the moxibustion are well known as a traditional treatment in Japan. Usually, they are called “Hari” (acupuncture), “Kyu” (moxibustion), but originally, they are called “Harijutsu,” and “Kyujutsu.” (Jutsu means Technique in Japanese) Acupuncture and moxibustion are different treatments but generally, they are called “Shinkyu,” and have been practiced as a single method by practitioners in Japan, China, and Eastern Asian countries because acupuncture and moxibustion have so many things in common in history, theory, techniques. For example, they have developed in ancient China, both stimulate the body from the body surface, also mainly using special treatment spots called “Acupoint”. On the other hand, the moxibustion or moxa is not as popular as acupuncture in the West because that moxa is least recognized and only acupuncture had spread in many countries.

About traditional Japanese therapy including Shinkyu, they are different from Western medicine though method and cogitation. In general, Western medicine is convenient, but when a specific disease develops, treatment is done by a way such as the administration of a chemical substance or surgical operation. On the other hand, the most important feature of Japanese traditional therapy including Shinkyu is that the focus of "natural therapy" to treat various diseases and symptoms without using drugs (chemical drugs) or take drastic measures. Moreover, Shinkyu states the value "prevention" rather than "treatment."

The reason why Shinkyu can treat without relying on medicine or drastic measures because it is the effectiveness of natural biological reaction caused by the treatment. Also, the natural self-healing ability is leading the human body active. At the same time, Shinkyu is mean to guide the damaged emotions and authority to conduct to a healthy condition by using the natural healing power of the human body. Administration of chemical substances and surgical operations have “side effects,” “Medical malpractice” and other risks.” exist. Moreover, an increasing medical expense has also become a big issue recently. On the other hand, one of the big advantages of Shinkyu is that there are almost no "side effects" or "risks," and no high expenses are required.

Such traditional therapy has advantages(specialty), and disadvantages (Limitation) does not mean that you can treat all the symptoms and diseases that can be handled by Shinkyu. However, modern medicine also has specialty and limitations. Shinkyu which does have side effects are beginning to be re-recognized as preventive medicine as well as new benefits. Furthermore, Shinkyu is an alternative medicine called CAM (CAM: complementary and alternative medicine) that is gaining importance globally.

Acupuncture (Harijutsu) is defining as below in "Acupuncture and Moxibustion Theory" by Japan College Association of Oriental Medicine which is used as a textbook at a college of the acupuncture and moxibustion in Japan.

The most important feature of the acupuncture method is that a particular method of using only "needle" to treat the body with insertion technique to "invade" the needles into the body from the body surface. There are various methods such as "Physical Therapy," "Anma," "Massage," "Shiatsu," but these treatments are using "hands" to give pressure on the body surface, it cannot directly stimulate the deep part of the body. On the other hand, acupuncture is easily approaching from the body surface to the inner body to stimulates the deep side of the body. Acupuncture treatment, using "needle" to give the stimulation in the body from the body surface so that it can act directly on the deep part of the body. The method of acupuncture that invades into the body without cutting the body is what is called "Success of Departure," and even if you look all over the world, as you can see it is a unique treatment method.

Moxibustion is defining as below in "Acupuncture and Moxibustion Theory" by Japan College Association of Oriental Medicine which is used as a textbook at a college of the acupuncture and moxibustion in Japan.

The features of moxibustion are that it uses burning moxa (or substitute materials) by practical action. Therefore, the "processed product of Moxa" (or the processed product of a similar substance Moxa) intended to use for the medical practice of moxibustion. Moxibustion originated in ancient China as well as acupuncture. Also, coming to Japan, the treatment of moxibustion became more popular in Japan than in China.

The characteristic of moxibustion method is to give a thermal stimulation to human skin and tissue by burning "moxa". Treatment using thermal stimulation exists around the world besides moxibustion, but there is no other method of moxibustion using plants like "moxa." It calls that it is a unique treatment method moxibustion practice action has even more features. That "moxa" uses for the practice of moxibustion. "moxa" is made of "Hair Mushroom" and "Glandular Hair" which are attached to the back side of Mugwort's leaves. The predecessors of China would have known that the plant part of the Mugwort would have a therapeutic effect and thermal stimulation on human skin and tissue by experience.

I have been asked to work from overseas since around 2010. The contents of work are technical guidance on Shinkyu treatment and beauty Shinkyu. Moreover, I have worked Shinkyu treatment for clients and beauty Shinkyu treatment practices at the same time. The most significant event was, I was invited as a guest therapist from the "Chiva-Som International Health Resort" in Thailand.

Chiva-Som was developed by investing a cost of US $ 26 million through the partnership with Thai business investors and is now the best and the most famous in Asia. For example, according to the UK 's “Conde Nast Traveler magazine,” it was chosen as the world's top 3 with many readers' votes for ten years. Moreover, in 2006, in the reader 's vote of the "Travel Leisure Magazine" of the United States, the "World Best Destination Spa" has been chosen. In the resort, the feature is the guests of wealthy people visiting from all over the world are mainly staying, also, various treatments and programs are offered for the promotion of health and beauty. The most highly specialists of health and beauty are invited as guest consultant from all over the world. Furthermore, more than 200 types of treatment and programs are offered.

I was invited as a guest consultant in 2010, and since then I have stayed at Chiva-Som several times a year for two weeks and have offered Japanese Shinkyu treatment and Beauty Shinkyu for a limited time. A health resort like Chiva-Som is a "health and beauty promotion facility." The reason I was invited was that I am specified treatment on beauty fields such as Beauty Shinkyu. In Chiva-Som, celebrities such as King and Queen of the countries, world entrepreneurs and presidents, and celebrities such as Hollywood stars and athletes usually are staying. All the guests are seeking "top-notch" service from us. Besides, in my case as a therapist, I have a short period that I can provide to the patients; moreover, the treatment time is short.

The critical point to give patience satisfaction in a short period are "Never lose the battle" and "keep the tension." I worked at Chiva-Som and, as a result, it was an opportunity to learn that Japanese Shinkyu is terrific. In modern society, It can be said that people around the world are under stress. Besides, people with neck pain, stiff shoulder stiffness, tension headache, eyestrain and insomnia caused by overwork due to the spread of electronic devices such as computers and smartphones are rapidly increasing. There is no special treatment for western medicine for these symptoms. Chiva-Som's guests are already undergoing various therapies because they are basically healthy-oriented wealthy people. So many guests have ever had Shinkyu. Among them, I have been watching many guests who have received the impression of Japanese Shinkyu at Chivasom and have entirely recovered from their illness.

I have caused many miracles and have repaired the president of a large corporation appealing who claims that “I cannot play golf with frozen shoulders” with two-time treatments. Another lady who is suffering from ankle pain for many years, she visited a doctor in London, New York, and Paris hospital to seek a method of treatment but who would not get better, I miraculously cured her ankle with one-time treatment. As I experienced this kind of experience repeatedly, my reputation for acupuncture within Chiva-Som increased and became famous. Ten years have passed since I was invited to Chiva-Som, but Shinkyu treatment and Beauty Shinkyu from Japan have attracted many people. Furthermore, Japanese Shinkyu has received high attention and became a popular service. Because of the reason, currently, a Japanese acupuncturist is working full-time at Chiva-Som.

What I realized while working at Chiva-Som is the possibility of Japanese Shinkyu. In Chiva-Som, you can cure a particular disease by the world's top leaders without flying around the world. I am convinced that Japanese Shinkyu and Shikyu technique would pass through to the world by having great success with the world's most famous health resort. Besides, Shinkyu and Beauty Shinkyu are useful in "treatment" and "beauty," and I learned that Japanese Shikyu could demonstrate the most significant power and success.

I would like to mention my opinion to deepen comprehension of Japanese Shinkyu and its characteristics and values I gained through my work experience and reputation in foreign countries. The content is an opinion based on my own experience. I will be pleased if you point out anything if there is a shortage or error. My opinion about the characteristics and the values of Japanese Shinkuyu for foreign countries are as bellow.

Shinkyu is intended to treat patients with specific symptoms and diseases. Shinkyu is originated in ancient China and the "treatment act" that has widely practiced until today. In recent years, however, Shinkyu began to be used for "beauty purpose," and a new form of Shinkyu called "Beauty Shinkyu" has attracted attention from experts. The definition of beauty means, it makes your appearance beautiful and to clean the face, body, and skin besides. Therefore, "Beauty Shinkyu" is the purpose for beautifying appearance, and "beauty Shinkyu" means to use Shinkyu for beauty purposes. For example, when you want to improve the patient's shoulder stiffness or back pain by Shinkyu, it is identified as "treatment."

In Japan, beauty Shinkyu spread at a rapid pace, triggered by article and books from specialized magazines I wrote from 2006 to 2008. In particular, the “Beauty Shinkyu” (BAB Japan), published in 2008 and sold 8,000 copies in Japan and became a major force. Furthermore, it was translated into Chinese (traditional) and Korean, which also affected East Asian countries. Moreover, ten years have passed, actively performing Shinkyu for beauty purposes has come to be considered as one of the distinctive features of the Japanese standard. Shinkyu for beauty purposes is spreading throughout the world, and in overseas, words such as “cosmetic acupuncture” and “Facial acupuncture” have been used overall. However, the word “cosmetic” includes the meaning of “cosmetics prduct” and the meaning of “applying the surface” and “not real,” as opposed to the essence of the Shinkyu. Also, “Facial” does not mean “beauty” in the sense of “Face.” Acupuncture is originally a means to maintain, improve and restore health. Even in the case of Shinkyu for beauty, the goal is to acquire the natural beauty of human beings based on health

Therefore, the terms “Cosmetic acupuncture” and “Facial acupuncture” cannot be said to express the essence of Shinkyu for beauty purpose. Furthermore, in Japan, China, Korea, and East Asia, “Shinkyu (acupuncture and moxibustion)” is always practiced as a single established treatment. Acupuncture is always is a word that refers only to “Shin” part of “Shinkyu.” For that reason, it is difficult to express in English that essentially correctly express Shinkyu for beauty purpose because of the Kanji itself is the means of Shinkyu. Therefore, we defined Japanese acupuncture and moxibustion for beauty purposes as “Beauty Shinkyu.” When only Shinkyu performed for Beauty purpose, it is sometimes called “beauty acupuncture” or “Facial beauty acupuncture.”

If you want to improve sagging or wrinkling on customers face in using Beauty act so that it will be identifying as "Beauty Shinkyu." For the Beauty has fields such as the facial beauty, slimming, bust-up, hip-up, legs treatment. Moreover, there are various methods of using Shinkyu, but Shinkyu and aimed at "facial beauty" mainly in beauty Shinkyu is attracting high attention in the world. Beauty Shinkyu has actively used for symptoms caused by sagging of the face, wrinkles, dark circles under the eyes, dullness, edema, skin aging, metabolic defects, poor circulation. Besides, the needles are actively used for beauty purpose, but Kyu is not used as a purpose for a “facial beauty” like needles. This definition points out that the difference between beauty Shinkyu and Shinkyu is "the purpose." As a result, Shinkyu treatment is aimed at "cure," and beauty Shinkyu is a Shinkyu are done for "beauty."

Also, for the sake of clarity, I will give you an example of the practice of Shinkyu. In the process of Shinkyu treatment practice, the condition of the patient's skin may be improved. This effect is the effect of treatment because the boundary line between "beauty" and "treatment" is necessary because beauty Shinkyu is regarded as "primary purpose.”

The purpose of Beauty Shinkyu is to acquire "natural beauty of the human body." Orthopedic surgery may also use in beauty medical field. The beauty appearance obtained by such a method is called "decoration beauty" or "Orthopedic beauty," and even if we acquire individual beauty, it is irrelevant to "health."

On the other hand, the "natural beauty" of the human body is established by health, therefore, maintaining, promoting, and restoring the natural beauty of the human body is essential for preserving, improving and restoring health. By recognizing health beauty, by practicing health maintenance by Shinkyu, it can be used for maintenance, improving and restoring the health of natural human vision. The essence of Beauty Shinkyu can keep health maintenance, improvement, recovery. At the same time, the most significant benefit of Beauty Shinkyu can be said to gain beauty and health at the same time.

As noted, Shinkyu for the beauty purpose has spread rapidly over the past decade. At the same time, the method is diversified. In recent years, various forms of Beauty Sinkyu have been carried out. However, it is doubtful whether all these methods can be called “Beauty Shinkyu" unconditionally. For example, can you call the methods of stinging needles in your face after performing the face cleansing and facial massage which is done with the esthetic procedure? It can't be called “Beauty Shinkyu" because we are not an “aesthetician with the needle” but an acupuncturist.

Beauty Shinkyu is a field of “acupuncture and moxibustion,” and the meaning of Shinkyu is to perform practical action by “acupuncture” and “moxibustion” It cannot be logically called “Beauty Shinkyu” unless it is established as a practical act by only “acupuncture” and “moxibustion.” The remarks that break down the essence of Shinkyu recognize mistaken Beauty Shinkyu and abusing the words of Beauty Shinkyu give misunderstanding to customers. Beauty Shinkyu itself will result in losing essence as a field of Shinkyu.

Recently, there is an increasing number of beauty specialists who enter acupuncture and vocational college aiming for career enhancement, learning knowledge and skills on Sinkyu, and acquiring national qualifications of the acupuncturist. Therefore, a method combining esthetic and Shinkyu can also be recognized as a new area of beauty. I even do not intend to deny it. However, such an approach should state as “acupuncture esthetic treatment.” We should consider the appearance and diffusion and development of Shinkyu and Beauty Shinkyu. It is essential to distinguish between Beauty Shinkyu and esthetic Beauty Shinkyu clearly.

I will explain the “risk” of customers who receive Beauty Shinkyu. One of the biggest advantages of Beauty Shinkyu is that there is a little risk without using drugs (chemical drugs) or using drastic measures. Possible risks are “pain” and “subcutaneous bleeding.” Conversely, the risk in the treatment of Beauty Shinkyu is only “pain” and “subcutaneous bleeding.” which means that it is a very low risk and safe treatment.

Before, there was a cosmetic surgeon’s asked me some questions. ”What is the risk in performing Beauty Shinkyu?” and I answered, “ I would say there are cases where bruising can occur by subcutaneous bleeding, and there are some customers who feel pain when inserting needles.” Then, the doctor responded me. “I would not count that as risks. Bruises will surely disappear, then it is said that most cosmetic beauty treatments are painful.”

Indeed, I have been working on Beauty Shinkyu for over 20 years. I have already provided technical guidance to more than 600 experts both in Japan and abroad, but I have never reported on cases where the bruises have remained without disappearing. For example, it is true that there is a much painful treatment for hair removal or getting tattoos, it is true that there is a much painful treatment for beauty purpose. From such a point of view, it can be said that it is extremely low risk and safe to do Beauty Shinkyu, which is a significant advantage.

From customers who first receive beauty acupuncture, I often get questions about “Pain level.” However, that even if the same treatment is performed using the same needle, the way the pain level is not the same by the customer. There are also people who say “There is no problem at all.” Doesn’t feel pain at all.” The reason is that pain is a feeling based on the subjective “subjectivity” of the receiving side, and whether it is “painful” or “not painful” depends on how each customer feels. Therefore, we cannot state the answer to the question of “Pain level.”

On the other hand, it seems that there are cases in which it is expressed as “not painful” to the customer by using a thin needle, stabbing the needle shallowly, and so on. For the reasons described above, it is impossible to avoid the sensation of pain accompanying it by doing the act of inserting the needle. It is wrong that a person who performs a treatment act insists painless. Moreover, although there seems to be an image that “a thick needle hurts”, But my own opinion based on clinical experience is that there is no correlation between the thickness of the needle and the intensity of the pain level.

There is a possibility of pain in Beauty Shinkyu to some extent, so it may be difficult for people who are not active in shock to receive Beauty Shinkyu. Also, for customers who are accepting Beauty Shinkyu for the first time, fear of unknown tends to increase the feeling of pain, but as times goes on, you may get accustomed to pain.

The Holistic Health Beauty Shinkyu Association, which I am striving to improve the “technical strength” of acupuncturist conducting surgical acts as a chairman. Also, I am working on reducing the pain by the “Quality” of the needles to use. Specially, I offer technical seminars once a month to provide technical guidance. Students at this seminar are aiming to future improve their technical capabilities. Therefore, the students are allowing to take free trials with free of charge as many times as possible. Moreover, I recommend using a high-quality needle manufactured in Japan or domestically for needles used for acupuncture and moxibustion treatment.

Shinkyu aimed at beauty has been done all over the world, but it was not crazing as it is now. Besides, because there is a long tradition as a medical practice, using Shinkyu for beauty purposes tends to be disdained in Japan, and it is still not carried out very positively. Also, even now, some experts remained old fashioned and have a strong sense of resistance to treatment physicians engaging in the beauty industry. However, since natural human beauty is closely related to health, which is the original purpose of Shinkyu, there is no reason for denying Shinkyu for beauty purpose. In this way, ten years ago, in the Shinkyu industry, the word "Beauty Shinkyu" has not actually existed, also when I used internet search tool such as "Google," it was hard to find " Beauty and "Shinkyu" from the internet. Even if you search for two keywords, the information I got was less than 10 or so. It is only recently that Shinkyu for beauty purpose began to be carried out in general.

From 2006 to 2008 I wrote articles and books of specialty magazines triggered the Shinkyu for beauty purpose spread rapidly in Japan. There was one chance that concept and the word of Beauty Shinkyu became attracted by Shinkyu industry. First of all, Beauty Shinkyu was first published in a specialized magazine of Shinkyu called “IDO-NO-NIPPON.” A magazine named “Japanese extraordinary extra edition of IDO-NO-NIPPON No.11 Beauty and Shinkyu” was planned to lead by me. So that Magazine was designed to be published in August 2006. It was the first publication in Japan that categorized Beauty Shinkyu, and it was a very epoch-making event at the time when there was a negative trend of Shinkyu for beauty purpose. Moreover, I wrote “Chapter 1: Why is Shinkyu for beauty?” Which is equivalent to that preface, and I was able to gain an opportunity to spread widely about Shinkyu for beauty purpose.

When “Japanese extraordinary extra edition of IDO-NO-NIPPON No.11 Beauty and Shinkyu” was published, Shinkyu for the beauty purpose which had been viewed as disdain or taboo until then has turned around and gained a great deal of attention. Moreover, the history of Shinkyu, the word “Beauty Shinkyu” was born. Besides, the book of “Beauty Shinkyu” (BAB Japan) which are published later sold 8,000 copies and caused a phenomenon called "Japanese Beauty Shinkyu boom" also occurred in the Japanese Shinkyu filed. Currently, (by 2017) When searching the word “Beauty” and “Shinkyu” on the internet, about 1.55 million information are easily found on Yahoo! Japan. Also, 1.43 million “beauty” and “Shinkyu” information in Google can be found.

As Beauty Shinkyu became famous at a rapid speed, various unexpected issues also occurred. In Chapter 10, I will describe the current state of Beauty Shinkyu that has been passing for more than ten years since the beginning of the craze of Beauty Shinkyu. At the same time, I would like to mention some issues including critical content. Since there is the possibility of including critical content, I would say that if you feel uncomfortable about reading chapter 10, it would be much appreciated if you could skip this chapter.

The biggest issue is that there is an increasing number of acupuncturists who do Shinkyu do not acquire certain knowledge, skills, and experience of beauty Shinkyu. As mentioned above, it was only recently that Shinky in the field of Beauty Shinkyu began to take place. For professional acupuncturist, there are many unknown parts of Beauty Shikyu. For that reason, there are no experts who could be called Pioneers or leaders on Beauty Shikyu. Therefore, in a sense, Beauty Shikyu has made an impression like “anything is fine.” Also, Beauty Shinkyu impression is “Complex and rough.” About myself, there is nobody I could call as “Master” in Beauty Shinkyu because I have made my method while receiving guidance from doctors who specialize in “beauty field” such as “cosmetic surgeon” or “cosmetic dermatologist.”

Because the field of Beauty Shinkyu was an immature field, many acupuncturists self-named “Pioneer”or “Veteran” of Beauty Shinkyu. However, in Japan, Shinkyu for beauty purpose came to be carried out since the publication of “Japanese extraordinary extra edition of IDO-NO-NIPPON No.11 Beauty and Shinkyu” as mentioned above. The fact that most of Beauty Shinkyu is only self-made performance. Even in the beauty field, one field of Shinkyu should not be contempt. It can be said that the above acts are deceiving customers and acts of blaspheming Shinkyu. I will talk about the correct knowledge of Beauty Shinkyu who are not having certain technical strength and experience. In that case, when performing a beauty treatment Shinkyu practice action, it may cause troubles due to unsatisfactory results and subcutaneous bleeding. It also predicts the possibility of bringing disadvantage to customers. For that reason, for the Beauty Shinkyu to achieve the decency and development, it is necessary to continue to provide customers with “satisfaction” ‘safety” and “relief” treatment. It is an essential condition for us to acquire proper knowledge about Beauty Shinku and correct technical skill to do treatment.

This is my opinion, but honest and diligent experts are usually focused on the technique or development on Shinkyu. On the other hand, those who focus on business tend to use advertisement and publicity to get their attention from the public rather than accumulating expert knowledge, skills, and experience. Therefore, to receive highly effective Shinkyu, finding trustworthy experts from recommendations without being deceived by skillful advertisements and publicity such as Web or internet is the key.

Beauty Shinkyu also created a new type of acupuncturist who focus on business. Before Beauty Shinkyu, there were only three motives for acupuncturists. One is “I want to contribute to who suffers the pain.” And the second motive is “I wish to be wearing a white gown” or “I wish to be called Sensei” The third motive is “to be a succeed my family business. ”For Shinkyu treatment, usually, one person treats the patient through the procedure until to the end. It is an extremely “Labor intensive work,” and the treatment unit price is not set high. So Shinkyu is “not profitable work. ”On the other hand, expenses related to beauty such as cosmetic surgery and aesthetic treatment are much higher than taking Shinkyu treatment. Therefore, as a result of “entering Shinkyu” for beauty purpose such as Beauty Shinkyu into the field of beauty, the beauty Shinkyu that I founded has become "a new business model.” In the past, no one aimed for an acupuncturist for business or money. It cannot be said that “business” and “money” are bad things. However, it is a sad result that a junior who aims for acupuncturist appeared due to the motive of “money-making” .It is regrettable that the images of Shinkyu and acupuncturist have been vulgarized.

From this current situation, “Hamamatsu Medical-Care College” which is I am a vice principal and “Holistic Health Beauty Shinkyu Association” and are proposing “Holistic Health Beauty Shinkyu (HHBS)” as new ways of education and practice of Shinkyu for proper Shinkyu development. There are various reasons and circumstances that I embarked on Shinkyu for beauty purpose. The biggest reason for doing that is that when I opened the Sinkyu Clinic in Azabu-Juban, Tokyo in 1997, I was conceived of a new form of Shinkyu practice of Holistic health Beauty Shinkyu. Shinkyu are related to health, cure, beauty, and it is united and cannot be thought of separately. For example, if the health state is maintained, treatment is not necessary. However, if the health condition is compromised, some medical treatment is required. On the other hand, in Oriental medicine, natural human beauty is considered to be based on health. For example, the treatment of diseases that adversely affect the appearance of circular alopecia is better than the recovery of health status. That is done for the beauty purpose.

Holistic health Beauty Shinkyu is focusing on such health, cure, beauty relationships and adds a new purpose of “Beauty” to “cure” "health maintenance/Promotion” which was the conventional use purpose.
